fiddlerensembleEntering the world of Anatevka, having the village welcome you to the story with the wonderful cacophony of ‘Tradition’, is always like a large extended family welcoming you back after a long holiday away. By the end, it feels as if you never left. Fiddler on the Roof is a joyous celebration of family, love and the impact of inevitable change. KingsPlayers has done a great job of bringing this important classic to life.

tevyeTevye, played powerfully by Mark Banton, is the father for five beautiful daughters. He attempts to raise his family centered around the teachings of the Jewish faith and its traditions but when a student enters town talking of change, he begins to think twice about choices he has made. This is a production you will not want to miss. Especially if you are looking for something to do as a family. You are in for a treat! The sets, done impressively by Mad Dog Productions, are visually striking. The costumes are beautiful and are used to their full twirling potential thanks to stellar choreography by Karin Redden.

The cast is full of strong performers that work in great ensembles, all equally talented vocally as well as in their movement. Thanks to strong direction by Jennifer Noel Klouse, these performers have created a genuine community. They fight, forgive, dance, drink and sing together through thick and thin. In classic musical shows like this it is hard to pick out just a few standout numbers, this show has them all, but this cast really shines in ‘Tradition’, ‘To Life’, ‘The Bottle Dance’, ‘The Rumor/I Just Heard’ & ‘Anatevka ‘.

fiddlerladiesIt also has to be said that the Shorecrest Performing Arts Center is an incredible venue, it is a great stage and the seats are very comfortable. Come spend a little time with The Dairyman, His family and the people of Anatevka! Trust me, it will be just as entertaining as the first time! Thank you KingsPlayers, we had a great night!
